The Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design invites you to join us for a special screening of the Emmy Award-winning documentary, Mending Walls, followed by an engaging artist talk with the visionaries behind the incredible project. In the summer of 2020, Richmond-based artist and activist, Hamilton Glass, challenged 30 artists from different cultural backgrounds to collaborate on 16 murals to propel dialogue around social and racial justice. Using real-time footage and testimonials, the documentary shows how the artists get to know each other through difficult conversations, and how working together ultimately opens their eyes and hearts to our differences. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Mending Walls' founder and creative director, Hamilton Glass, and executive director, Taekia Glass. They will share insights into the project’s impact, the role of art in social change, and the importance of conversation in building empathy and connection.

This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC thanks to a generous grant from the RISD Professional Development Fund. Space is limited so please REGISTER HERE!

All are welcome!
